Different corn and bean field, different weapon but more optimism! This food plot is trampled with tracks already , hoping for some movement sooner than later!

Made a 150 mile move today. Only saw 3 does lastnight Wild thang is set up overlooking a standing bean plot and I’m overlooking a standing corn/bean field where i killed the split g-3 in 2010 we need more cold and snow
December 1, 2012 at 8:57 pm #127616It is magical out here in central MN! No wind, pretty heavy fog and super quiet. I can see about as far as my mz can shoot . Set back in a strip of woods 200 yards from a devoured bean field. Only bummer so far is that all my clothes are damp from Sundays snow but it is worth it just to be out here !
December 2, 2012 at 8:06 pm #127634well last night was a bust in northern mn.just like last weekend we headed south for the evening hunt.it paid off for wild thang with her 1st muzzle loader buck
I’m set up in the heart of Big buck country hopefully my new #1 will slip up tonight
December 2, 2012 at 9:20 pm #127637Set up overlooking a inside corner. Hoping a nice doe steps out for a shot. Hopefully before the fog sets in again!
December 7, 2012 at 8:05 pm #127872with the front rolling in I decided to set up over my favorite late season food source.soybeans time to sit back and enjoy the show Wild Thang killed her Buck here 2 weeks ago
December 7, 2012 at 8:49 pm #127875Wind is picking up, snow is falling and the does are already feeding in the brassicas about 150the yards away hopefully my #1 decides to join the party
December 8, 2012 at 8:22 pm #127902Sitting just behind a corn and bean field with the mz again. Hopefully the deer got the memo that some weather is coming in and they come out for an early dinner !
December 10, 2012 at 7:54 pm #127937Sitting 1/4 mile from a picked corn field in the woods where the deer stay in the winter! Same stand as the one I shot a doe out of 6 days ago
December 18, 2012 at 8:31 pm #128186Haven’t been out in 6 days but it feels good to get back! Checked the cam and had two does walk by at 1 pm. I got in the tree at about 245
December 22, 2012 at 8:11 pm #128276Back at it for a final push this week. Had some shooters on the hoof in daylight when I pulled cards a week ago. Hoping one of them steps out some time this week. Overlooking an acre of turnips and radishes with an acre of corn and half acre of beans directly behind the blind. Should be a full field in about an hour
December 23, 2012 at 7:45 pm #128286the covert wireless camera has sent me pics of 2 shooters daywalking for the last 3 nights. hopefully i got in here quiet enough
December 25, 2012 at 7:29 pm #128333Back to the same spot tonight the covert did not lie. the bucks showed in the daylight saturday. but I couldn’t get fully drawn before a doe got nervous and put the buck on alert the cam sent daylight pics again lastnight while we were celebrating christmas with family. hopefully I can get it done tonight. It’s darn cold!! Good luck to everyone braving the cold
December 25, 2012 at 10:59 pm #128334Lots of does.. 4 bucks 2 were chasing 2 seperate doe fawns. ( there were probably a dozen does involved) looked like a video game going on in the valley below me. of course the 2 in bow range were only 1.5 year old first rack bucks
December 27, 2012 at 8:04 pm #128398The last pm sit of the season for me im set up between two bedding areas catching them before they go across the road to feed. Ill check the camera when I leave and if I have a shooter moving in the am, then ill try the mornings. But its too risky to hunt this stand in the mornings
December 28, 2012 at 8:06 pm #128447Back at it again.the covert wireless is still showing 2 decent bucks daywalking time is running out
December 29, 2012 at 8:47 pm #128468What a f—d up day! Got settled in the stand and no release. Made the trip back to get it . Back in the stand all sweated up. 5 minutes later a big black dog runs the deer out of the bedding area. from me he headed to wild thang’s stand. I GIVE UP!
December 30, 2012 at 7:36 pm #128477Back at it in BC… Hoping one of these big boys finally make a mistake and I am here to seal the deal! Running out of time quickly
December 30, 2012 at 8:11 pm #128479what an awesome night to be sitting in a tree! I normally don’t like a south wind but this area has always produced our best bucks with this wind.I Am very blessed to be able to have such a honey hole! i can’t imagine not not being able to call this my home. all I can say is Thank you!
December 30, 2012 at 9:02 pm #128480Well we are down to one of the last evenings here in MN and we have tons of deer on the cameras starting around four. We have been having a decent ten along with 5 other bucks coming to this stand almost everyday now. If all goes as planned we should have a couple for the freezer! Good luck everyone that’s out! It’s an awsome night to be out!
December 31, 2012 at 7:49 pm #128489Well it’s the last night in mn. It’s going to be a long walk home if he doesen’t show tonight Good luck to anyone thats out my phone says -3 degrees windchill
January 2, 2013 at 4:03 pm #128522Getting frustrated. Been sitting here on my deck watching a 140 150 class buck chasing a doe on since 7 o’clock this morning and still haven’t been able to get a clear shot on them.
January 2, 2013 at 4:54 pm #128524He just bred her again, and still not shot. Now they beeded at 170 yrds behind a clump of brush/snow. He’s acting weird, very slow walking, doesn’t go far. The doe has been up and down this tract of land. Starting to wonder if he’s been previously shot. He folds his front legs under when he lays down, but “plops” his mid section and rear down.
BTW, is it cheating to be sitting in a lawn chair and having the laptop out with you???January 2, 2013 at 8:26 pm #128538Buck Down! Smaller than I first thought. Something is wrong with this guy and I suspect he may have been hit by a car. He was with does all morning, but didn’t walk more than 20 yrds without laying down for awhile. Wind finally switched so it was in my face to stalk up to him. Does had left him for about 1/2 hour and he was alone. 15 minute stalk and Got a clear shot at his neck to finish him. Looks like some road rash on a front shoulder and that shoulder is sticking up high from his back. He was favoring that leg whenever he would try to lay down. We’ll see what we can salvage on him. Hate to see him go to waste.
