Back in a tree for the first time in 14 days ! I love hunting in all forms, but being camoed in to a knarly oak is my favorite place in the world. Set up about 100 yards off a corn and bean plot hoping to intercept a heavy horned 8 point !
Well I’m sitting in one of my favorite spot hoping to see a nice big doe tonight that I can take down with my bow for the first time! My daughter-in-law and future daughter-in-law have already beat to the punch so I guess now it’s my turn. Wish me luck!
Wind was no good for the brassicas so I’m back over the soy and winter rye. Can’t help but feel positive. Last time i was in this stand i had a great encounter with a shooter.
In a ground blind with my 5 year old nephew….hoping for ANYTHING to walk by!
Back in the timber over a half acre winter wheat and clover plot. First time it has been hunted this season and half the plot is eaten down to the dirt. The camera took 2300 pictures between sep 10 and oct 5. I also convinced the future wife to come out for this one , hoping to let her hear a thwack!
First sit of the weekend with my girls. Windy and cool. Bucks are definitely prerut. Might even shoot a doe tonight for the girls.
First time in this stand this year. Just had a six come through and hassle the does in the clover. Wishin it wasnt so hot out.

Should have built a potty in this box blind for the girls…..
Here you go John!
3 bucks so far. Young guys all walking in the field at the same time.
Another great morning to be in a tree in Wisconsin while trying to post last night. I had a upper 130s sneak in behind me. needless to say I couldn’t get my phone back in my pocket in time to grab my bow from the hanger! !!! Ended up seeing 3 Bucks 2 were hit list and 1 was a new buck. 6×6 probably upper 160s 55 yard’s lots of brush so no shot
Doe. Forkhorn and a small 6 point so far the bucks are on their feet
Just had a heavy 8 walk by on a trail that should put him in range of where Todders is set up
4 bucks and 2 does and one couldn’t tell.16 in 8 pt 2.5 yr. greatlooking young buck. hitting the horns together always had a buck come in each time. starting to pick up
32 degrees, west wind at10mph, rubs and scrapes all over. Tonight is the night. Sitting on a scrape the big 12 was at last night.
22° here in southern Wisconsin. Should be an awesome morning!!!
I just got busted by a really nice shooter! (60 yds) It’s amazing, all the scent free soaps, clothes, made no movement, thought I selected best stand location for the almost non existent wind this am? Unbelievable , how they can sometimes bust you. What are the odds of seeing that guy again any time soon? How long do they avoid an area after sensing something’s not right?

Depends how bad you spooked him. If he just sensed something, he may avoid it for a few days. If he got a snout full of you and he busted out of there like you lit his tail on fire, then it will take some time or a hot doe for him to come back. Do you think he saw you, smelled you or smelled where you walked in?
Had a doe and nubbin come through at about 9 and have had two 1.5 yo 8s in range….sure would be nice if the big one’s made a point to walk through every shooting lane like the little ones always seem to
He didn’t pick up my scent where I came in. I don’t know if he saw me? My silhouette it broken up pretty good in this spot. I’m guessing he scented me. The wind does tend to swirly a little bit in this spot. It’s strange though, I get so many doe & small bucks that often walk to my stand from all directions & never scent me. When I 1st saw him he was stopped , looking at me, then few seconds later turned and bolted off.
Last night in bc for a few days , set up on a long ridge hoping for a cruising buck. Has not been hunted till now and never had a camera over here so to dumb blind luck !
Back at it again tonight. Liking the cooler temps here. Couple of does through the plot so far.
Had a real nice shooter at 40 yds tonight but he was locked on a doe and wouldn’t come to a grunt and snort wheeze.
So I was at one property and had high hopes but had some bullets fly over head oso now im at another! Good luck everyone!
