Both bucks are darn nice. I can’t wait to see how that 2nd buck finishes

I was thinking the same thing.

Ya, that 2nd buck is something else. He’s no wider than his ears, but he’s got some good mass and character. Unfortunately, this is a perfect example of the deer that get shot each fall by our neighbors. Hopefully he gets smart and stays on our land. Dad and I have agreed to let him go one more year.

Like the split tine (G3 maybe) on the 2nd buck!

Yup, he should be easy to spot. Don’t see that trait much around our house. I think you’d have to kick a soccer ball pretty hard to get it in his horns right now unfortunately.

The smaller buck in the pics has a LOT of growing left to do. You’ll be suprised where he ends up. I think that doe is still carrying a fawn rare but sometimes it can happen.

I don’t have any way to prove it, but I think she may be the mother of last year’s triplets. Just a theory I’ve got.

Or if she lost her fawn/didn’t have one. Sure packing on the pounds!

We were pheasant hunting our place last fall on opener. I was standing with the other guys posting/blocking. I could hear something down in the tall switch grass, around the stock pond, just growling at me. I thought it must be a coon or badger. I was ready to run it down if it showed it’s face.

This went on for quite some time, when all of a sudden one of the yearlings bolts. Then the shooting started. Another yearling bolts, then another. Not surprised, I’m just standing there waiting for Ma to bolt. Nope, the growling starts and the blowing. At this point I’m pretty confused. Sure enough, right where the sounds were coming from, less than 20 feet from me the old doe gets up and runs off. I could tell she was an older girl, but was in pretty tough shape from the triplets.

Got me to wondering if she would even be in good enough shape that fall to conceive. Who knows, but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn once.

Nice looking deer! Most of my hit list are what you have pictured in that last photo…
