I have an ’01 with 180,000 miles on it. I have an 18′ Crestliner and have never had a problem at a ramp. Never been stuck, but haven’t attempted to pull any stumps or taken it on the ice.

My suburban has the “auto” 4×4 option.
I’ve used it in “slippery” road conditions and it works very well.

While I’m not an auto mechanic, I don’t think I would advise using it to pull stumps, as it doesn’t kick in until a wheel starts to slip. When that happens, everything “jumps” into action. That “jump” or lock into action can be harsh and possibly break things.

Snake is yours a push button select, or is it all wheel drive all the time. The one I am looking at is AWD all the time, no select between 4WD HI, LO, or Auto. All my trucks have had the three options, some of the newer Yukons do not.

I pull a Ranger 620, but a wet steep ramp is a wet steep ramp. The North Garrison access comes to mind…

The 6.0 drinks gas period. I have one in my 1500HD. I am working in Eden Prairie now and picked up a commuter car, this new truck will be for leisure only. Not that I am not concerned about milege, but fuel economy will not be a selling point on this vehicle for me.

    Dan,
I had one…no issue at all in a boat towing or boatlanding situation. If you use the 4 lo option on your traditional 4×4 it may not be the best option for you.But for general everyday use no problem. Front end parts will typically get a bit more wear & tear, and you really need to keep an eye on regular tire rotations.

Mine is AWD all the time. I have never had an issue at any of the ramps near Garrison — or anywhere else. Good luck!

I’ve got an 03 Denali and i tow a 620. Prior to this truck i had a Suburban. Not having the 4×4 buttons takes getting used to. I believe they are better than the AWD. A pal with a 5.3 pulls my boat occasionally, we really cannot tell the difference. I am going back to the Suburban shortly.
