To Say that there have been allot of highs and lows to Bobby’s 2011 Whitetail season would be an understatement. His season started out hunting the early season in Buffalo co. Wisconsin. Although several decent bucks were spotted he was determined to put his tag on a mature Buck. His plan was to leave this area alone until the rut was in full swing. Unfortunately he had only hunted a few days when on November 12th (still prime rut) A group of gun hunters decided to check and repair all of their stands. Needless to say it was Fruitless to even try and spot a Mature Buck on this property after that, so he packed up and came home and spent his spare time getting ready for His Saskatchewan hunt.
Bobby and a Good friend Brock Wilson From Cannon Falls Started Their Northern Adventure on Saturday November 19th, The plan was to sit from dark to dark everyday until a mature buck was spotted. Unfortunately the weather was warm and with very little snow cover deer sightings were minimal. Finally late Wednesday afternoon Bobby spotted 2 shooter Bucks from his blind. About that time the 2 bucks spotted each other and the fight was on!! There were a few unsure moments as to whether Bobby would get a shot at either buck as they chased each other around the field. Bobby was finally able to get the cross-hairs of his 300 Ultra-mag on one of the bucks (A 6X5) and the rest is history!
Brock chose to pass on several decent bucks in hopes of shooting one on his next years trip.
Congratulations to Bobby and Brock on an adventure that they will never forget.
