Dad just called….BBD

Dad just called. He was really excited. He thinks he shot our best buck. It was a bit hard to get him to calm down and tell me the story. He is pretty sure this is the buck. I guess he is also missing some G2 or G3. Like I said, that can be fixed. We have this pic to work off along with dozens of others.
The buck came out of our CRP chasing a doe. They passed the box blind at 8 yards, but he couldn’t get a shot that close. He said he couldn’t even find the deer in the scope. They ran out to about 90 yards and stopped broadside. One shot later the buck was down.
He’s home alone as Mom is here in the cities so no pics for a couple days as he is challenged when it comes to phones/computers. I’ll be honest, I’m a bit emotional right now. I really wish I was there to celebrate with him. This will be the first whitetail either of us has put on the wall. He deserves this SO MUCH. The last few years he has really put in a ton of time and effort into food plots and making our land more whitetail friendly. Congratulations Dad!!!

I guess he is 18.5 inside spread. Looks wider than than in the pics, but he’s still pretty good.

November 26, 2011 at 3:54 pm #115646That is the best BBD news I have heard all season! Congrats to your old man and to you for all the time and effort your family has put in ! Sounds like he might be on his way to becoming a believer in letting the little guys walk , nice job boys!
November 28, 2011 at 12:15 pm #115713I talked to Dad several times over the weekend since Mom was up here shopping. He is swamped with pheasant business I guess. 440 to deliver today alone. This is about twice as many as normal.
Anyway, he is suppose to get the deer to the taxidermist today. So I’m sure the best pic we will get is going to be the back of the pickup. Gotta love those rednecks and their truck pics.
November 28, 2011 at 12:45 pm #115715We will be waiting for a long time to see the old man driving a GMC. FORD tough is all that is allowed on the farm.
November 28, 2011 at 12:48 pm #115717In the case of a F.O.R.D., please include a photo of the DEER ONLY!

Nice buck.
Glad to see your Dad looks so happy about it
No kidding. The way he’s holding the gun, and the deer…..he’s got a “you’re next” look on his face.
Tell him congrats from me!

November 29, 2011 at 5:02 pm #115850It only took about 15 phone calls harassing him to get the pics. I’m sure he was real happy by the time Carolyn got the pics taken. Plus he just got done delivering 440 pheasants. Plus he’s just plain old which in turn makes him crabby by definition.
