Well I took all last week off from work to bow hunt and was very disappointed with the activity I saw. I finally started to see some good seeking on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning (opening MN shotgun season) the deer were moving despite the wind. I chose to sit a stand that is typically very good during the rut as it is situated in small valley/corner between two long ridge points where the doe usually bed. My buddies were seeing all kinds of deer but I didn’t see anything that morning, i was confident I was in the right spot and sat it again Saturday evening. Around 5:30 a big doe came crashing through being dogged by a nice 2.5 year old 8….this is what I was hoping for. I got ready and in 5 minutes this nice 10 point came in nose down on the trail. I stopped him at 45 yards broad side and put a 12 gauge Hornady SST through both lungs. He went about 50 yards and tipped over. I rattled this same buck in during bow hunting but was never able to get a shot. He is my personal best and I am very excited to put this beautiful buck on my wall as my first head mount. He scored out just shy of 140, wish those G2’s could have matched the G3’s!
