Looking for a better map?

I am looking for a good map of the public land I bow hunt in Northern MN.

I have the USGS Topo’s, but I want something with a little more detail. Something like the Pro’s use to set up their hunt. This way when my buddies go hunting with me I can show them the good spots to set up their stands.

I’ve thought about using aerial photos to determine deer patterns… But where/how can I get my hands on some aerial photos?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Theres a couple you can try:

    http://terraserver-usa.com/

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/compass.html

Both have aerial shots…. but I’m not sure if they will have them for Northern MN. Worth a shot tho!

Also… if they do have images… be sure to check the dates on them. If I recall correctly, they will tell when they were taken. From what I have seen, they are fairly old. (early-mid 90’s)

I have found aerial maps of property in southern and northern MN on the DNR website. They come in handy to mark stand locations and give you a good idea of the terrain you hunt and also the surronding area. Another thing I found very useful is a plat map. I just bought one for the area I hunt near Bemidji from http://www.rockfordmap.com . They list public hunting areas and county forfeit lands that are open to public hunting. Hope this helps.

I was talking with a co-worker of mine about this issue, he found an add in the Duluth News Tribune for this place that makes custom maps.

Anyone ever seen or used stuff like this before?
