I have quite a few pictures of this guy. My goal is to harvest 4 1/2 year olds and older. This one is on the fence. I think he is 3 1/2 but not 100% sure. For now he gets a pass. What do you guys think?

I don’t think there is enough Grey on the Nose or dip in the back for this to be a 4 1/2 year old and it is just way to big to be a 2 1/2 – My guess would be a nice 3 1/2 year old – will be a really nice deer next season if he makes it.

I’m going with a rocking 2.5 looks young to me. But I am on my cell phone right now I might change my mind seeing the pics full size.

It’s hard to tell but give the boy a pass and watch out next year

I agree 3.5 but hard to pass with those split G3’s

My vote is 3.5 too. Just too big for a 2.5 and doesn’t have the wear n tear of a 4.5 year old

Let’s see some more pics to confirm my thinking. I voted 3.5. Beauty of a deer no matter what.

I would post more pictures if they would help but the main camera I get him on is having flash issues . I can tell it’s him but the flash goes off before the camera takes the picture which gives you nothing but an outline and a rack. I think I’ll give him one more year to be on the safe side (Not sure my lease partner will though). I will post the next time I have pictures of him. My guess is he will look different in the next couple weeks. Thanks for the help guys.

Nice looking deer and with that one nice side view you can see he has a nice defined brisket where deer 2 1/2 wont have ! basically with his head up a younger deer neck would run straight down its leg with out the nice brisket hanging out in front of the leg! this tells me hes older than 2 years old as far as his back gos it is about right for any deer up to to 5 or 6 but the one thing that tells me he is not 4 1/2 is the size of his front shoulders! a 4 year old will have front shoulders nearly as large as there hind shoulders! not as big more evenly balanced with each other!

you made the right call in m opinion he is a 3 1/2 year old!

    good hunting!

Pretty sure he’s 3 1/2 Jigger. Pretty sure I’ve seen him in person, and that was my feeling on his age. Nice looking buck no doubt.

Do you have pics of him from last year? That would help

No pics I can say were for sure him… I had one 2 1/2 last year with a split G2 but I have 2 of them this year that have split G2’s. Both this year are 3 1/2 so they get another year. If I had a picture of either of their brow tines I could tell for sure….but no straight on pics yet. I haven’t seen anything on my cams this year to make my jaw drop but I know they are out there. I just need to put my time in. Here is a pic of the 2 1/2 from last year. Hard to see the split when you can’t view the picture in full size

He is a good one. I would say he is a 2.5 year old. I think he looks light bodied and young in the face. Nobody believes me when I say this but a few years back my dad shot a nice one that scored 167 that the dnr aged him at 2.5 when they looked at the bottom jaw.

I’m on the fence with that one!?!

The DNR aged my bow buck from last year (Gravedigger) at 3.5 too – not sure what to think about that…

    Good Luck & Have Fun!
