I’m glad you got some for the pan ! I would agree the bait seems on the small side . I noticed when I was fishing pool 16 a few weeks ago it seems like you have tons of shiners down there. I saw allot of bait being worked in eddies. I have not noticed that much in pool 14, that might explain why the bite is so good right now in pool 14 not as much bait.

Those were not walleyes robby ,They were Gar and thhey dont taste good at all, So if you accadentaly catch them agin just throw them back and switch bait immeditaly so you wont be botherd with them anymore. However i like gar so if you could let me know the exact spot that you caught them I will try to thin them down so they dont bug you agin.

Thanks for the report Robby! That’s what’s great about this old river, you can find something on the feed. I also noticed the vast amount of striper acivity when I fished 16 a while back. Tons of fish working the eddies, so we took an hour break from walleyes and targeted the stripers. What a blast on light action rods. Fish every cast in some instances!
Sounds like you got some great smallie action as well. Gotta love the tussle a thick smallie puts up.

Well, I returned to 16 and fished two different areas last night. We caught some walleye and Sauger in Sylvan Slough on s, nothing to really speak about in size. Then we went back to the side slough, the water had dropped perhaps 2 feet and things had changed. We caught a few fish of different species, but nothing like the last outing. It also seems that the warmer back water areas have had an algae bloom. Makes the water a pretty green color. LOL. See you out there!

By the way Todd, I like gar. LOL.
