It’s been a great hunt. I’ve had some amazing encounters and have truly had one of the best hunts of my life. I’ve spent a ton of great time with my folks and friends. I have one more hunt in the morning. It’s time to close the deal.

We spent several hours the other day looking for the doe I shot, but didn’t have any luck. This deer simply quit bleeding. I hate losing these great animals.

Yesterday had one of the most amazing hunts of my life. Didn’t end with a BBD but on of the coolest encounters with a huge buck that I have ever had. No time for details now as I am headed back to the same stand in hope of a different ending.

Just had a hawk make what he thought was a killing dive on a small gray squirrel
The hawk hit the tree and the squirrel about the same time both the hawk and the squirrel were pretty shaken up there were also a flock of turkeys that were pretty shook up as well very cool to watch

Same buck from yesterday showed up about an hour and half ago. He needed to take two steps and I would have had a 29 yd shot. Again wind in my favor and I think doe is still with him so the waiting game continues….

Not good. Doe walked out at 11. He follwed. 34 yard quartering away shot and he stepped forward as I released. Think I hit him about midway back and 4″ below spine. Let him lay for an hour before picking up the blood trail. Lots of very bright red blood for the first 150 yards or so but he only bleeds when he stops now. There is a puddle of 10-20 drops about every 30 feet but not much more. Have since stopped trailing but about to resume as rain is coming and I absolutely have to be at work all week. Can’t even describe the awful feelings that I am experiencing.

ok, so I’m not in a tree stand. Walked out of my office onto my deck (I work out of my house) and started rattling some horn, just putzing around. Got two very small 8’s came busting out in the field in less than 2 minutes. The locked up for about 30 seconds. Before I could get my scope or camera out, one was chased off. This guy is still looking for me

I got him into about 80 yards before hi figured out that I was a weird deer in a green hoody and horns in my hand LOL Nice even rack, hwe’ll be a nice one in 3 years if he gets to live that long

Well one last shot at getting a buck. Sitting here in the stand with pneumonia but I am going to tough it out and see if I can’t get him down this weekend. Not much action yet this morning.

I HATE gun season. 3pm opening day and the drives have already started. Wish I could afford my own land…
