Had a phenominal night. Saw 20 + deer, just not the right ones. Passed on a decent 4 point. He won’t get a pass come Friday. I gotta work the next 3 days, but I’ll be back at it soon. Need a north wind so I can hunt my #1 spot!!

Slow morning but certainly not quiet. Squirrels and turkeys making up for lost time. Sitting at the top of a large thick draw where 8 does and 0 bucks came out last night. Will be waiting here all day for a lonely boy to stroll through!

Well I made it an hour and a half in the rain this morning. No deer seen. I realized that it is not a good idea to put my safety harness under my rain gear on a day like today as the water leeched through the strap all over inside my rain gear and I was soaked. Was real bummed on the way home too as I saw deer in three different cornfields.
Gonna dry up and try to head back out at some point today

Nice chilly day. Two nice bucks, a doe and fawn so far. Not as active as i would have thought given the weather.

Ya Jigger!! I had a great morning!!! Had two shooters within 25 yards, just no shots. Cameras are alive with big bucks. I had to come out at 10 for a conf call for work and bumped a buck bedded just south of my ground blind. Kind of bummed about that. Hope he doesn’t leave the county.

Had another great night, just not the right deer. Passed on a couple little bucks and two nice does. 12 deer total. I’ll be back at it in the am. Wrong wind predicted so I’m giving the #1 spot a rest. Head to the box blind and try the decoy again.

Just can’t find the right deer. Had 4 1.5 year old bucks come by so far and two bambis. The mnature does seem to have went into hiding with all the chasing going on.

Had a great night in the box blind with my oldest friend Jeff. We didn’t see much until the last few minutes. It was Jeff’s turn to shoot, but he finally missed after bragging about how many great shot’s he has made recently. Which, between you and I, was pretty rewarding.

Not 5 minutes later a doe and fawn show up, not it’s my turn. He ranged the doe at 47, perfectly broadside. I pulled up and let one fly. The arrow hit just a touch forward from my mark and we could see the Lumenok quickly fall out. We both were worried I hit the front shoulder. We could see her out in the neighbor’s pasture about 100 yards from where I shot her. We waited for good and dark. Well as dark as it can get during full moon. We got down and gave her about 2 hours and headed to eat supper.

We returned to find only about 6 inches of my arrow laying right where I shot her. She had jumped into the neighbor’s cattle pasture that is pretty much like concrete. We tracked her for a while, but lost blood about a 100 yards from the fence. I was sure she was laying out there dead. Nope. We decided to head in the directionn she appeared to be going, back to our CRP. As we were walking out along the fence line, we found good blood. We crossed the fence to find several puddles of very bright red blood. We finally backed out at the last puddle about 9PM.

I know this deer is dead, it’s just a matter of finding her. We have arranged a search party for the AM. At the last puddle of blood, it was easy to see she is bleeding out both sides. She has to be close. I can only assume I hit the high lungs and took out part of the shoulder blade. I don’t know how else an arrow could break so quickly. More to come in the AM.

Oh ya, as we were waiting for dark, a very nice shooter buck and doe he was locked down with showed up, 15 minutes too late. We watched him dog this doe across almost 3/4 of a mile and they showed up just a little too late!

Had just put the phone in the pocket when two does came strolling through. Gambling big sitting in this stand with the wind direction but they were right downwind for five minutes and never caught my scent. Maybe the scent lok is doing its job today…?

I have one of the biggest bucks I have ever seen while hunting bedded down 60 yards away. He has been laying there for an hour and a half already. He chased a little one out at 12. I saw a doe come out then but I think she is breded down very nearby. Wind in my favor so I have my fingers crossed
