Well I hit a doe tonight… Shot was not perfect back a bit and a little high. Arrow went in about 8-10 inches and when i found it, it was covered with very dark blood and chunks. To dark so gave up the search till the morning. What do you guys think. I am hoping to find her early before it warms up it should be cool enough tonight for her not to spoil. Do you guys think i will find her?? Thanks

Stay positive, I’m sure you will find her. Enlist some help if you can. Sounds like a liver shot and a deer won’t live long if that is the case. Good luck and report back tomorrow with pics!

Tracking a deer is like an art form. Bring tp to mark blood and general direction of travel, do not go forward until you find next blood and if you have to, look downhill and towards thicker cover. From what you describe with the shot an inch either way could make or break it? If there was blood you hit something besides muscle and she should be down. Good call on backing out and good luck tomorrow!

After a great search this morning it took me about two hours to locate i finally found it. Thanks to the coyotes that tore it apart. The blood was more evident this morning. Sadly there wasn’t much to salvage which i was afraid of. The coyotes might be next on my list since they were well fed today….
