I didn’t fish it this time of year (march) but when I was there I looked for sea gulls. If they were feeding I would pull in there also and cast a rattle spot and the spotted bass were in there eating also.

This time of the year the fish a deeper. You might try some bluff ledges or some brush in 20-30 feet of water. Jigs work pretty well for that. You can also fish the same areas with deep diving crankbaits. I know a few guys who do a lot of night fishing this time of year. They use big black spinner baits and topwater baits. You should also be able to find fish under the docks. Cast into the hardest to reach places for the best opportuntiy to get bit.

When do you guys typically start seeing the velvet come off? This is the first year we have had a good amount of trail cams out and I’m excited to see when the process starts.

That is what I had in my head, but simply couldn’t remember.

Spent the weekend in SD. Got a lot more done. We have added 3 new stand locations. Put the last tin on the box blind for dad. The season is coming!

The velvet comes off when the buck rubs it off.

Thanks Mike! I’ll be interested to see if the deer back home follow the same pattern they do with just about everything else. Our rut, horns sprouting etc… All about 10-14 days behind you guys over there.
