We fished it this morning from about 6:15 to 1:30, and it was a tough bite. We only caught 4 fish between the three of us in the boat (all small fish, biggest was 16 inches). We tried pulling plugs, bottom bouncers with spinnners, and bottom bouncers with plain hooks. No one that we talked to on the water was having any luck. The water temp when we started out was 73 and by 1:30 it was up to 80.

My old man and me went out on July 4th. On the water by 5:30am, off by noon, before all of the tuna boats came out. We got a two man limit of walleye and saugers, one 11″ crappie, one 30″ northern, and several sheepies. The walleyes and saugers mainly took a green floater tipped with a fathead. They were mainly in 13 feet of water. We fished the area near Haksola State Park Campground (near the rocks)and in line with the point there. The fish were hanging right on the drop off there. We caught the northern on the Wis side right at the mouth of Pine Creek. Below is a pict of just some of the fish.

The upper pool on the river has been pretty consistant as well. Trolling cranks and or livebait presentations has been pretty darn productive.

I have not heard of any issues regarding that area for what you mentioned ,water clarity….but I have not been down there either. If it was a problem…I would think someone would have mentioned it.

The last time I was on the lower part of the lake (about a week ago), I was struck by how CLEAN the water was. Probably a good 2 and perhaps 3 feet of clarity. Maybe because the barges hadn’t been running due to the flooding down south?

A little dirt in the water would help the crank bite down here, that’s for sure!

    Tom,

That looks similar to the buck you have the shed of. He also kind of looks like that buck you have pics of that was taken by the funnel stand at night from last year.
