What do you guys recommend for a mineral lick? I know where to put them but am wondering what the best product or combination of minerals/vitamins would be the best to help promote antler growth.

Also, how many licks per 40 acres do you need to really make a difference in antler growth?

I recently put a bunch of time into looking up nutrient levels of different minerals for this year. It had been a few years since I had looked at every thing and wanted to make sure I wasnt missing out on a new and better product out there. What I found was that Antler King, Frigid Forage, and Monster Raxx are pretty much at the top tier of minerals IMO. I have previously done alot of research on antler growth, development, and nutrients utilized by deer. To sum it up, antler growth is very dependent upon Calcium, Phosphorous, and Protein. Obviously there are other minerals that help but these are what I found to be of most importance and have hinged my mineral supplements around for years. Personally I can vouch for both Antler King and Frigid Forage working very well. I just started a new site this weekend with Monster Raxx and am excited to see how it works out. I also like to add a food block to my mineral sites for added protein supplement and will again say I am pleased and impressed by Antler King and Frigid Forage products. I believe Monster Raxx is a site sponsor?? Im guessing he will chime in and be of great knowledge as well as others. Hope this helps

I go 1 site per 40,theres is no “best one” as with most things in life the “best one” varies from situation to situation, typicaly when starting a new site this early in the season(snow still) i will go with a blend containg attractants and a bit more sodium(lucky buck is what i used) as lactation hasnt begun yet and a few bucks are still carring head gear, once the site has daily vistors i will refresh with any brand containg more minerals than salts(vita rack 26, winas 30-06, or Monster Raxx trophy mineral) there are also some home brews than guys have great luck with although they never work for me. On some farms the deer show preferance to one mineral brand over another so NEVER get stuck in a rut

Monster Raxx is not a site sponsor at this time. I hope to be able to change that in the future. In my opinion the best mineral and vitamin product you can give to deer is low in salt, has a 2 to 1 ratio of Calcium to Phosphorous, and also contains Selenium, and Vitamins A,D,and E.

Thanks for the information. That’s just what I was looking for.
