DNR hired sharpshooters shot two cows using night vision just over a week ago. the cows were within the high fence of the former elk farm just south of Pine Island. the owner of the cattle says ” he lost two cows but is not allowed to talk about it” just thought the public should no where our tax money is going….. to pay for losses of cattle now!

This is my post from the fishing side………

That is crazy I hunt ALLOT, and shoot deer every year last year I got five. I have one spot that is in a cow pasture with beef cows, and to me I don’t know how you can mix a 200lb deer up with a 1000 pound cow. I guess it shocks me more as the fact of always know your target, and someone with sharpshooting training I think would know that. Accidents do happen but that would be like the game warden keeping a limit and a half of walleye, and saying he forgot what the limit was when he went to school to stop people from doing it.

    OHHH MY GOODNESS!

I bet the DNR is really happy this got out. Gotta love the ol’ timers. “….but I’m not allowed to talk about it”

    Priceless

This had to have been intentional I doubt they would have mistaken a cow for a deer

I have found two dead deer and one blood trail that nobody followed with in 100 yds of a DNR hired sharpshooters bait pile. One was a little 3 pt Buck and one was a big Doe, the blood trail got thinner and I never found that one, but there was no tracks from anyone trying to follow it but mine. They are shooting everything but tracking none of them from what I have seen. This is turning into a very big mess!!

Very unfortunate. Did you take any pictures and did you report it? Nothing will ever change if you don’t.
