I know they volunteer, but I called a local measurer a few years back, when I took a nice buck… when I called him, he acted like it was the biggest hassle in the world ??? I didn’t bother him again. Hope you have better luck or at least a friendlier guy

Your right G, it is all volunteer work. I wouldnt call unless you are going to have it officially scored and ENTER the critter into the book. If you just want to see what it scores, print out a score sheet and call a few buddies. Nothing better than scoring a buck and having a few beers with the boys.

Isn’t IDO member Jack Naylor a official scorer ? ?

B&C scorers are all voluntier, but B&C only adds 20 to 50 measurers a year and you have to take a training class befor becomeing a measurer that is by invitation only. You submit an aplication with your previous measureing expierience if you can travel to measure trophys and your referances. In my opinion you gotta realy want it to get that title wich would mean you realy like scoring deer so you shouldn’t complain when people call you to have an animal measured.

You could also bring your buck to one of the MN or WI Deer Classics. For a couple extra dollars from the regular addmission they will score the deer for you.

I agree with Dennis have a buddy or two give you a hand if you haven’t already done so. For an archery buck, The Pope and Young instuctions/score sheet can be printed right off of the P&Y website. If he is big enough to make the book, it might be kinda interesting to do it yourself and then see how close you are when you get it done officially! Good Luck!!

    Sure sounds like a pain.
I like the idea of getting together with a few buddies and coming up with a score just for my own information. Always wanted a P&Y buck but not worth the hassle I guess.

    Thanks for all the info!

I did tape mine out, I came up with 133″… I had the form filled out, witness signatures, bow info, thought it would be cool to put it in the book… but haven’t bothered since.

    Can we see??

Maybe we can take a stab at it for you and then when you get the official score you can buy the winner a steak
