Thanks IceJohn, I appreciate the advice. I usually get around to this in about December. I was wondering if you had any magic lures for catching walleyes through the ice. The best I have are spoons and sweedish pimples. I planned on fillin up my ice fishing jigs and was wondering if you had any good pointers on walleye jigs.

This time of the year is the best time of year to pick up some great deals on ice tackle. Custom Jigs and Spins has a clearance section on their site where they’re selling off Diamond Jigs, Demon Spoons, etc., at some discount prices.

Thanks for the ice tackle reminder IceJohn.

    Hey Deluxe

I’ve been giving Koonce a hard time all about the paddletails by PM most of the day and earlier he mentioned he was planning a BFT ice tackle sale… so you might want to hold off on your order until he gets that announced. Might save you some dough.

Steve, what works best for me around our area is two things…
    1) CJ&S Lightning spoons
    2) Yellow Jigging Raps

I have confidence in these two baits, and use them religiously for walleyes. Color can change with the raps, but I seem to always get bit on any color of lightning spoon. Up north in MN, I will use CJ&S slender spoons.

Here is a link to an Iowa walleye report from last ice season…

Hey guys, I shot this on Dec.3rd Muzzleloading. My first year ever doing this. So I thought it was a huge doe coming in and so I blasted. Ran 30yds and was done. head was buried in the snow and my friend came over to help me drag. When I went to gut, It had nuts! I looked at the head and sure as hell it was a buck. It dressed at 170. and was about 8-8 1/2 feet long when it was hanging. Isnt it a little early for them to be losing horns? Everyone I talked to said it was at least an 8 pointer. What do yall think?

It seems to be a little early but not uncommon. Congrats on your big “doe”!

I am still seeing multiple bucks in my food plot with both sides, I am going to pull cards this weekend and see what they show. we had planned on taking a couple more does this weekend, It shouldn’t be a problem identifying the does when bow hunting.
