Gotta love metro deer

  • #202267

    Hey Guys,

Thought I’d share something interesting that I’ve been seeing on my commute to and from work lately. The past 2 weeks straight, I’ve been seeing the same group of deer every morning and evening right along the Freeway on 694 in Fridley.

There’s a 6, 4 and a yearling that have been living a 2-3 acre chunk of hillside right alongside the freeway for the past few weeks. It appears they are not trapped their either, as if they walked down 1/4 mile, they could bypass the 20ft barrier and jump the small chain link fence into another stretch of woods. It seems they are pretty comfortable hanging out right where they are at for the time being.

Just goes to show you the impressive ability these deer have to adapt to changing conditions.

If anyone else notices these guys hanging out here, let us know.

I look forward to seeing those same deer everyday on my commute as well. I go to work a little later, so I don’t see them in the morning very often. But when I drive home around 6:00pm, they’re always there. The first time I saw them, I only saw the fawn…so I figured it was just young and dumb. But now I’ve been seeing the whole group. I can’t believe they spend that much time that close to the freeway and one hasn’t gotten smeared yet. Amazing animals, and something to look forward to on the drive.

    Metro Bucks

I’ve been filming some big ones this past week and am heading out in a couple hours to film today as well! The other day I had an 8, couple 10’s and a 12 all within about 50 – 60 yards.

I drive past them around 8:30 each morning and 4:30 each afternoon. If they are not up and feeding, I can normally spot them bedded down on top of the hill next to the big wall.

If anyone wants a couple small sheds, this would be an easy place to look and I could update on when they drop.
