I will be leasing land in Wisconsin next year and have a few questions:
    1) is an 80 acre lease big enough to make it worth while?
    2) is it completely imparitive that I get a lease in the top counties in western part of the state or is the hunting good in centeral part to near Eau Claire?
    3) where are some good places to find these leases?

I have about 3 in mind so far that are between 100 acres and 200 acres but seemed to have run out of road in my search. ANY HELP would be more than awsome!!

Yes but it depends on how much of that is timber versus tillable and what’s the make up of the surrounding properties around your lease.

There are many good properties outside of the better known counties such as Buffalo. Pepin, Dunn and Pierce counties are all producing some incredible bucks as those areas are starting to practice more QDM. Parts of central WI is also producing some great bucks but it all depends on the area.

From people who lease them, from talking to the locals in that area, talking to the local realtors that deal with land parcels, local DNR officers and outfitters.

Exactly what Brad said. Only thing I would add is budget. The better property is more of a premium and will likely cost more. Also, do you plan to lease for bow, firearms, or both? You can save a little by having a bow or firearms only lease. Just a couple of things to think about

Many factors, depends on the property… Anywhere in the state can be just as good as anywhere else, if you get the right ingredients… Overall, I’d also take the aforementioned “Big buck counties” (Buffalo, et al) all else being equal, but it’s no guarantee…. Plus, you’ll usually pay out your nose for land in those areas. This buck was taken very near EC this gun season. 22.5″ inside.
