When my buddy from Duluth called to come up and hunt, I knew that I had to jump at the chance! Stupid city deer was exactly what I needed given the season I’ve had.
Shot her at about 12, 13 yards slightly quartering to. I hit her at 3:15pm and stayed in stand for the rest of the day. Took up trail with my buddy at about 6:00 in which we found the arrow, but it was covered with talo. I wondered how that could happen with that shot. Didn’t find blood until about 30 yards after the shot and it wasn’t much. In the end she went about 200 yards and half of that we were tracking her tracks. Thank God for snow or I’m not sure we would have found her! I hit high lung, but somehow the arrow deflected and exited just before the opposite side rear leg. The blood we were tracking was what was coming out of her mouth from the hole in the onside lung. The crazy things arrows do!
The boys wanted their bows in the pic too. ha, ha
