well it was an pretty good hunt for me but not that great for a our group. between 8 of us there were 7 deer seen and i got the only 2 on the ground a alright 8 and a nice doe. i got the buck at 7:25 opening morning as he came in undisturbed and i decided he was big enough for me and i dropped him where he stood. then around 10 somebody shot 3 times at the doe and missed. she ran right to me and i hit her perfect and she ran 50 yeards into a ditch with water and down she went. didnt see another deer until friday night when we were doing drives and the stander didn’t shot them. then i saw one more today during a drive but didn’t get a good shot. one of our standers today missed a doe also. overall not terrible but not great either. i don’t think that there were nearly as many people out hunting as past years either.

What area in WI are you hunting? It sounds like not many deer were seen. Good shooting and congrats on your buck and your doe!

Congrats on your deer. That has been the theme from what I’ve heard…it was quiet by us as well on the opener. Not very many deer spotted. Second weekend we saw more deer than the first weekend…very strange.

Not what I wanted to hear Mike. I had given up by yesterday, and got the chain saw out to work on food plots for next year. Just my luck, but did get some much needed work done on a beautiful day.
