Has anyone ever tried any of the blood lights on the market? I just got one for a present from my Grandparents. Looks like it may work but I was playing with it tonight on my way out of the woods and it dose make red really stand out, even if its not blood..(red leaves). Has anyone used one in the past and what did you think?

I got one (Primos) a few years ago for a christmas present. I never tried it always used a regular spot light when needed, this year I had it with and needed a light and tried it out, for me…I would much rather go with a regular bright spot light as opposed to one of those. Maybe they work great but I didn’t see the advantage or reason to switch preferences.

    Good Luck

The one I got it is a Gerber Carnivore. I have always just used a bright flash light as well but I will give this a try. I have read reviews and they seem to be very mixed and now my interest has been caught

I hear you like I told my hunting party I wish I never had to find out if it really worked well or not…so much easier when they drop where you shoot them…

I read your post title and my first thought was…Garbage.

It’s like shining a red light on weeds and everything else turns red. I’m actaully very surprised that they even still have these things on the market. Wait, i do know., It’s because people buy and get them for christmas presents. I got one, exchanged it for other outdoor things. I just knew it would sit on the shelf too.

If you can get the exact right angle it works other wise A bright flashlight works better in my opinion. I got a gerber carnivor a few years ago. The best part about it is that it has a flashlight and the blood light. I take it with me to use the flash light part and will ocasionaly try the red/blue blood light when I have to track a deer in the dark. I always end up seeing better with the flashlight part. It seems to work good on the garage floor but not that great in the woods.

Good post Mossy…I too often wondered if they work and had my doubts. Good thing I didn’t waste my money!

In my opinion a lantern is still the best light. I carry a flashlight too but the lantern is always in the truck for track jobs.
