Just wondering how many people out there bowhunt on the ground, whether it be in a blind or getting behind natural cover? I have always done it because it gives me more options than if I was in a treestand. I also have better success when hunting on the ground for some reason-almost as if the deer have figured out where my stands are Too bad I didn’t follow along with where I planned to sit last night…sat in the stand instead of the group of trees and I would have had the deer I call Buckzilla dead on the ground it would have been a 10 yard shot in the wide open

I do hunt from the ground out of a ground blind when there are no tree’s to get up in. Back in the day we used to hunt off the ground with natural cover but drawing a bow was a challenge. I still prefer to hunt from a tree stand though!

I also sit on the groud alot, weather its cause i am hunting a new area or because i have seen where deer have been going so i make a stand in that area for a night or two, i also like it because its easier then finding a tree and putting a stand in it, i have not shot a deer out of a tree in 2 years but i have filled my one tag for my zone evey year, and more tags in bouns zones, it gives it more of a challenge also.

I dont usually bow hunt from the ground due to scent issues and the terrain I hunt, but this entire season it seems I have been able to put the sneak on so many deer not to mention I was gun hunting from the ground yesterday evening and was almost trampled by several bucks chasing does just no shooters

It’s a whole different style of hunting and it gives you a rush when one is right there 5-10 yards ground level with you really fun! I’ve had lot of sucess and it’s very mobile can get right where the deer are!

yep ground hunt, still hunt, stalk whatever you call it, I do it a lot too. Last night actually had to climb out of stand because the darn deer showed up in the one spot there is no way to get a shot off from the stand, after that mr buck disappeared and mrs. do stayed around a while, but honestly didn’t want to gut/drag/butcher/wrap/freeze one last night. I have shot many a deer out of the ground blind, one thing I will say is brush your blind in to the surroundings, takes a few extra minutes but is worth it.

Made it out to check trail camera’s and decided to take a picture of the ground blind I brushed in about a week ago. Fresh tracks all over so hopefully it’s brushed in good enough. The wife will be hunting out of it tomorrow morning since we are suppose to have rain/snow mix!
