I would say the rest of this week should be awsome for bow hunting. Went for a drive to a wooded section of Woodbury this morning thinking I would see a buck on the move and sure enough a unusually tall 6-pointer was standing on the curb as I came over a rise. I would think the next few days would be good sitting all day. Anyone have that plan? Are you seeing them in the chase phase right now??

I plan to put your theory to the test 1/2 day tomorrow, fri., Sat., and Sun. I am hearing of bucks chasing like crazy, but have yet to witness this. Number of scrapes jumped ALOT that last few days, and small bucks were running does as of Sunday. I judge the rut peak by the number of car vs. deer crashes on the radio/scanner, and that has not jumped yet either. Soon…..Very Soon!

I’m seeing a lot more dead deer along the roads which is always a tell tale sign.

I would say by this weekend it will be HOT! My dad just called me here at college and said he missed a huge palmated buck, either 8 or 10 point. He couldn’t tell-shot was at 45. Every day, new scrapes are showing up in our little 18 acre woodlot. Never seen that buck before, and he walked past a camera

    It’s here!!!

Seen 12 different does yesterday evening, and six bucks with only one being a shooter, all but one buck was chasing hard and grunting continually. It has been this way for about a week now in my area, but most of the shooters are still holding out until right before dark. I sure hope I smack one before the guys in orange trample my woodlot

    Hey Guys,
Went out last Friday night and missed a good buck with my
Reezen thought he was at 20 he was more like 25 yards. I just missed him by inches at the most as the arrow went right below his vitals. I was out last Saturday and Sunday
and passed on two other bucks. I went out last night and say nothing. I’ve seen bucks sparring but no chasing yet I
think that it’s close. But too some of you it won’t matter
because the orange army will be out and push alot of bucks
to go nocturnal therefore after Saturday most of the rutting activity will occur after dark.

Down here in Iowa I feel the deer are just starting to come into the rut. Young bucks are cruising, but the majority of the big boys are still holding out til right at last light, and only come out of cover to scent-check the does on the field edge before slipping away back into the cover. I’ve seen a few mature deer chasing in daylight hours, but nothing crazy yet. I think this weekend it will open up, barring hot weather or too much pressure for you guys up north.
