SO after this weekend’s hunts, I want to drop out of college to bowhunt in the fall
I hunted every morning and night from Friday to sunday and I hunted this morning (monday) and saw the buck in the pictures three days in a row. This deer literally comes from nowhere across an open field grunting with his nose to the ground. My stand is in a back corner of an overgrown pasture and there is a wooded ravine behind me. The buck slips past me into the woods and then into the ravine every time I have seen him, except for this morning, he came running in at 20 yards in the open, but I couldn’t get him to stop. Each time I try to call to him, and he will look in my direction, but just keep moving. My questions are
A. What calls would you try to get this buck to ease over my way?
B. Is it possible that he will keep following this routine to next weekend?
C. Not really a question, but why in the name of God is a 160″ whitetail running around in the wide open with no other deer around? I know it is the rut, but this is crazy!!!!!!!!
