I have run both Navionics, and Lakemaster in mine. The 250 is a very nice unit, 149 is an even better price.

Well there you have it. Thanks Grump!

The one caution I would note is that these units are not waterproof like the ifinders and other units designed for boats. Be careful if you plan to use it on the water.

What is the best day to be in the woods on an all day sit in November, hoping to catch a big buck moving?

Assume WI/MN region near the 44/45th parallel (Cities/Eau Claire/GB latitude) Specifically, I hunt the Eau Claire area.

Halloween is great.. And I always get a chuckle when guys say that Halloween is the best day to hunt because lots of guys get big deer on Halloween. It’s becasue EVERYONE is hunting on Halloween!

We should pick a day that is a MUST(or as close we can get to it) hunt for all IDO’ers. Can you imagine the reports the next day? I guess right now Halloween is as close to that as we have.

The last 5 years I have tagged my buck on the 5th-8th. Those seem to be my best days of the year.

I have noticed that each farm is different even if they are relatively close. Each Piece/Farm has a 3-6 day window where pretty much every year you can count on the best movement of mature bucks no matter the weather, moon, etc.

Around here those dates are Nov 10-15, My spots in ND are Nov 12-17, South Metro Nov. 7-12, Up North Nov 12-18, Madelia Nov 4-8.

But in the end IMO, anytime you can be in a tree from October 25 till Turkey Day is the best time to be in the stand, no matter where you are!

Thowing out the outliers (and the Halloween effect ), you’ve got a nice little bell curve starting to setup…

weird, I’ve got Oct 28th-Nov 13th off. strange how that worked out.
I got mine on Nov 4th last year, and the deer were in full rut action then. I plan on sitting most of the day every day the week before the rifle opener here in MN.
