I’m trying to wait 6 days to check cameras again but am struggling already with 4 to go
I hear ya Pat! I will be checking mine again on Thurs and it will be 2 weeks!
Its like an addictive drug. After I had this guy on the film on fourth of July. I find myself making excuses to check my cameras.

X2 The last excuse I have is to try and hang a double set in a tree that might not work. If it doesn’t work, then I can still check the cameras! If it does work, then I can still check the cameras!
I have been halfway out to check them and forced myself to turn around and go home several times when you get more pics of yourself than the deer it’s time for a break

Speaking-of……how often is too often? Do you wait for the right wind? Wait until they’ve been out a set amount of time? Differ based on location? Check them anytime if between 10am-3pm? What are your thoughts?
I’m currently on a 1-2 week schedule, based on how often I can get there during mid-day. Is one-week too often?

I would think once a week would be fine. Keep the same routine and the deer won’t mind. Heck, there are some that check it 2 to 3 times a week and still get Monster deer on film! I spray down before and after checking the cameras too!
I think it depends alot on where they are. If theres an easy in and easy out 3 days then check is fine. But if you have to go into their bedroom then maybe every 2-3 weeks during midday. That being said I can get away with every 3 days because I can drive my truck or 4-wheeler right to them without even going into the woods But still only go during midday

1 Week should be ok. It’s no differant than hunting a stand location watch the wind and know without a doubt they know you have been there and that while some deer will tolerate human intrusion I have documented proof thru the over use of camera’s on my property I have changed the travel patterns and have also made a few bucks totaly nocturnal. Most cameras placed in food plots don’t seem to cause as much of a problem. It’s mainly when I am trying to pin down a bucks bedding area and get too close that I Change their pattern Honestly once we know the farm we are hunting we Know where the hot spots are and really don’t need the camera, we probably do more harm with our cameras than we realize.
Over the summer, I first try and take inventory of what bucks are on the property. Cameras over food plots and mineral licks are common and I typically check them once a week. Once I get a good buck or two on camera, scouting with glass then takes over and I watch where the bucks are feeding and moving right before dark.
As the season progresses, I will move the cameras to scrapes, pinch points and rub lines (always keeping in mind not to disturb the bedding area) and it’s here where I rely on my cameras and try to pattern a buck’s movement. I typically check these cameras enroute to my stand since I already have my scent in the area.

Good advice during the season I only check the cameras that are on my way to and from my stand
i pulled all my all of mine, i’ll put them out again when season opens again.have some bucks that don’t like the cam’s. i give them a few weeks off from them. i have a spot where i don’t hunt i might put one there just to see what is going through there. also so i dont go crazy waiting for the opener.
I’ve been running mine less and less each year. Some deer don’t seem to mind them and others don’t like them at all. Makes it easier for me that one of my last Moultree’s just crapped out. I’ll wait now until a couple non-hunting breeding scrapes are opened to put a cam out again. For now, I have several velvet pics of decent bucks hitting the mineral in July / Aug.
