I am sure that plenty of people have a good way to do this already, but for anyone who isn’t sure how to pull still pics out of their trail cam videos, heres how I do it.
I have found it easiest to use Windows Movie Maker to do this. It is a simple program, but it works nicely for me. One thing I really like is that you can pause the video and drag the progress bar through the video and fast forward through the whole video which allows you to quickly scan a video to see if there is anything in it that you really want to see. Anyways, when you have your video paused in WMM, simply click the take picture button, then the program will open up a save as box and let you save the image to whereever you like, allowing you to open it in any editing software you might want to use.
