Curt,
What would your Dad say if he knew you were chasing trout when the walleye were biting I bet he is already out on Sharpe and I bet he is into fish but not ones like in your picture!

Rich,
It is a sore subject right now. He thought I was kidding when I told him I sold my boat, was in no hurry to buy another, and was looking forward to trouting this year. I might as well have told him that I’ve also become an atheist!
He has told me that fishing on Sharpe has been really good this spring. They have put plenty of fish in the boat each trip. His boat is in the shop right now with some lower unit issues, but thankfully that $4000 bill is covered by the warranty.
I hear there is still a lot of ice on Oahe. You guys headed out there anytime soon?
Take care,
Curt
Hi Curt,
Wife and I are headed out this weekend to open the cabin and pick up the camper but no fishing planned
I was thinking of trying the tail race one evening—any idea if they are getting any there? I bet your Dad is beside himself if you sold your boat and started trout fishing to boot He is a walleye guy through and through and as fathers we want the best for our kids—–best equals walleye in this case! Sorry to hear about his lower unit, did he smack a stump or was it just a mechanical failure? Tell him I said Hi and I’ll probably be talking to him at some point this Summer.
Rich
Rich,
I haven’t heard anything about the tailrace for walleyes, but I’ll ask Pops to see if he knows anything. I always liked fishing there for whatever happens to be biting–catfish, white bass, even some fat rainbows.
I don’t think he hit anything with the motor. He said something about a bad seal.
I’ll pass on your hello. Hi to Chris from me.
Curt
To thunk I raised him right! I have failed as a Dad! Trout! lol I will have to my gran kids to the side and tell them they dad does not really mean it! lol
Rich, there has been a good Walleye bite on Sharpe since Jan. Not much in the tail race, but good now all the way to West Bend.
A couple of 12’s and 2 over 13 have been caught. Several in the 7 range. The bridges have been really good the last couple of weeks.
I had a seal go out of the lower unit. I was running about 5800 hundred when the motor locked. I sure slowed in a hurry! It should be back together this week, hopefully the power head is ok. The boat dealer thought it would be.
Rich, call me when you are out here. I will bring you up to speed.

Thank you sir, I will definitely give you a call when we get ready to start fishing.
When I lived in Rapid City I trout fished and it didn’t take long till I was bored with it so hopefully your boy will feel the same way. I know that kid of mine has been bass fishing and even entered a tourney last year. Our tin Lund sure looked out of place against all those sparkly Rangers but he actually held his own. Think he got 9th out of 30 or so.
Talk about diversity—-a walleye guy in a trout forum talking about bass fishing
Need advice on tunning fp’s and bh’s this is what I plan on doing from what I’ve read, unless there are other ways or sequence. plan on checking center shot by doing the walk back tunning, once I have that accomplished shoot the fp then broad head at same target and move rest till they are shooting the same spot once that’s done the adjust sight if needed. Am I on the right track? Never had this trouble before till I switched to a new head slick tricks, even though I’ve read many reviews on the web about these heads for elk and how great a head they are fly like fp’s thanks for any input on getting me dialed in.
I normally do a walk back with the broad heads then double check the accuracy and consistency of the impacts with the broad heads and forget the field tips and set the sights,
I will take the one broad head and check all the arrows for impacts versus just checking a couple and saying good enough and not checking the rest that will be in the quiver
