put out the camera on the “salt block”… a well known salt lick on the farm where weve constantly had salt for about 10 years now….
i checked the camera….230 videos…. and only one buck most dissapointing thing ever. but on another spot i have a distant picture of what looks like an up and comming decent buck but its hard to see.

Thier probably around water and corn or beans Sticker, I’ve heard guys down here say they don’t hit the salt until it starts getting cold, it makes them to thirsty in the heat. I wouldn’t worry too much. As hot as its been thier around water forsure and bedded down closeby.

Beans edges and water right now are the ticket for buck activity, on the note of the salt lick, there are a ton of different options that will benifit deer during these summer months…hard antler is made up of less that 1% sodium. Adding somthing the deer will crave in addition to somthing that benifits them my help draw bucks to the camera if crop eild edges are not an option. Just a thought, good luck and safe hunting

theres some corn and some deer cane out at another camera…. just a little something i thought id try this year. crops are not an option….yet. in the ext couple of years i am trying to start planting ssome corn/soybean/clover plots around the property. i just dont have the equiptment needed right now. any suggestions on that? i have a decent (130 acres) plot of land, a tractor, but nothing past that.

Clover will be much easier/cheaper to put in than corn/beans, a soil test and proper lime added and a till about 4to6 inches deep will get tou rolling. Does the tractor have a pto and a 3 point? there are a ton of tilling options depending on your tractors power range, I recently found a friend a mint condition 4 gang dick with cutter teeth for 300 bucks!! Depends on what your budget allows realy. If your really thinking about plots next year hit the areas with round up now to begin the weed killing process. With a tractor already your way ahead of the game, but I warn you now its addicting! Even those buzzards in your avitAr will flock to the clover

roto tillers are the ticket IMO, its the one stop shop! Used they are very easy to find and not priced that bad, maybe not ideal but for rocky ground but they still work just takes more time and prep, over discing can have neative effects over time and sin some areas a plow will go deeper than your topsoil fliping up unfertile soil.

Check out the Ground Hog Max by Biologic. A buddy purchased one of these this summer and it works great. You just drive your ATV back tires up on 4″-6″ blocks and mount in your receiver hitch. Then, when you drive off of the blocks the weight of the ATV pushes it in the ground.

It is super for areas where you can’t get bigger equipment. He did a 3/4 acre plot. I looked at it a couple weeks ago and it looks bullet proof!
