Trail Camera Questions

I’ve got a couple cameras, and most seem to work fine. However, in the theory of not keeping all my eggs in one basket, I’m searching for a new model or two to give a test-run.

Anyone have experience with the following?:

-Wildgame Innovations® X6c 6 MP Digital IR Trail Camera
    -Primos® TruthCam® 46 or 60 Infrared Game Camera
    -Stealth Cam® The Unit
    -Moultrie® Game Spy™ D55IR
    -Moultrie® Game Spy™ I – 35 IR Game Camera

Basically, there’s quite a few new kids on the block in regards to trail cams, and I’m not as satisfied with my IR pics as I think I could be. I’m also looking to keep this on the cheapest side possible with the most features, so as to be able to afford a few of them.

    Ideas, thoughts?

Joel, i was recently wondering about the same thing, lucky for me you made the post before me. I know a couple people that have had decent luck with the Moultrie IR cameras. I just cant justify spending the money that some of these cameras are at. I recently went to check my Cuddeback Excite only to find a nest full of ants located within it. Now this was set up on an Oak Tree so who knows how or why these ants set up shop. Ive had great luck with that camera, but now its not working so i contacted Cuddeback and they said for S&H cost and 100 dollars to boot i can receive a new Capture. Otherwise its a 3 month wait and still unknown charges to fix my old camera…..not worth it in my opinion.
Anyways im curious as to whether anyone has had any experience with the primos cameras or wild game innovations. Im am in the same boat, looking for a decent camera without spending an arm and leg

I’m currently taking a long look at the Primos 60 and the Stealthcam “the unit”. Good trigger speed, lots of IR bulbs, and seemingly good picture quality. For me, it’s all about the quality of the night photographs as we all know big deer tunnel underground during daylight.

I have not owned one myself but have never heard of a happy customer with wildgame brand cameras. Quantity is great but I have been trying to spread my purchases out with quality pieces and the quantity I want is getting there. I like my moultrie infrared cameras a lot for the price, pictures and battery life good luck with your purchase.

Great post Joel. There are quite a few new cameras flooding the market. This is a good thing IMO as they will all compete and make each other better. I sure would like to see Moultrie continue to improve their product as I think for the money they are pretty decent.

In doing some research, it’s pretty apparent that the market is shifting towards more mid-grade cameras, such that any one hunter could afford to own a few for what the price of the uber-high priced ones go for.

Like you said Rob, the good news about this mid-grade push by so many mfrs. is that each one has to do a little more to stand out, and/or reduce the base price.

I’m all but settled on one of the Primos cams or the Stealth Cam “Unit”. Would love to know who’s actually building the camera for Primos, might alter my decision. Looks alot like the Bushnell Trophy Cam.
