Hi I recently purchased a new 2 me matthews clasic bow. This will be my first bow having a string loop I have always used a 2 ball style release so I am looking for advise on what I should get dont really want to spend over 100 if I dont have to just somthing that will work well with a string loop. Maybe someone has an old one laying around that I could take off your hands?

Lot’s of options here. Best bet with a string loop is a caliper release. Might want to look at the Trufire Hurricane release. Simply squeeze the triger, calipers open. Release trigger, calipers close. Tons of options. Lot’s of good info on their website. Congrats on the new bow!

Scott Archery Mongoose or Lil Goose! is all I have used for about 10 years now. I love them and their Customer Service ROCKS!

One word of advice is get the buckle instead of velcro. Velcro andtrying to take off or put on a release in the woods in the dark is LOUD. Also with a buckle your posisition of your release stays more constant which keeps you more accurate.

x2! Very good choice and as stated the buckle versus the Velcro works better due to being more consistent in length and a lot quieter in the stand especially on a dead quiet night, versus the Velcro stretching and making noise.

I have learned that with releases, you pay for what you get. I invested in a $130 Carter Quickie 2+ a year and a half ago and it is still simply flawless! You get a longer lasting spring and other components that tend to fail within the first few years of cheaper releases. By the time you wish you had invested in a high end release, you have already spent $150 on 3 of them.
    Just a suggestion

I have had the same Scott release for 10 years. I replaced one screw on it that fell out other then that it has been solid! I atually prefer that one to my newer back up Mongoose I bought. That one just sits and collects dust. The Misses has had the same lil goose for 5 years and nada thing wrong with it.

i have the cheaper version of this one (mines strapped in, not on the foldable ring), but if i could do it over again, i’d get this:

    tru fire

    kooty
    Keymaster

    Z,

If you can, head to a local shop. Ask them to shoot a few different releases. To me, finding a release that fits your hand is almost as important as the bow being tuned. Try it with and without a glove. Stay away from velcro and good luck!! Let us know what you come up with.
