DeerFest To Debut In Oshkosh

Your calendar may already have you headed to Oshkosh as it also plays host to Country USA, the nations premiere country music event.
DeerFest is “Everything Deer”. “It is our goal to make DeerFest the premiere deer hunting related festival in the country where hunters can experience “Everything Deer” in one location” according to event promoter Hugh McAloon.
Wisconsin boasts a rich and unmatched deer hunting tradition that annually contributes over $1 billion to the state’s economy. Each season more then 850,000 deer hunting licenses are sold and hunters travel to Wisconsin from all 50 states to pursue whitetail deer. Combined Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett entries also make Wisconsin number one in the nation for total entries.
“Deer hunting is culture in Wisconsin. It would be hard to find anywhere in the country with more passionate and influential hunters then Wisconsin”. McAloon stated. “We’re going to build the premiere deer hunting related event where hunters can experience “Everything Deer” and exhibitors can impact our state’s passionate hunters”, McAloon added.
Wisconsin is home to successful deer shows, and Oshkosh is home to festivals and big crowds! The annual Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo has been held each spring in Madison for the last 30 years and annually attracts near 30,000 attendees. Oshkosh is home to the EAA Fly In, Country USA and recently the Ducks Unlimited festivals. The EAA attracts over 600,000 attendees each year while Country USA draws in excess of 150,000. The DU event neared 100,000 at its peak.
“Oshkosh is the perfect place for DeerFest, and the late June dates are the perfect time. The Wisconsin Deer & Turkey event have proven Wisconsin will draw large crowds. We’re not looking to compete with that event, but rather offer hunters another quality event where we are able to add elements that just aren’t possible at their location and time of year. Certainly Oshkosh’s central location, easy accessibility and history of drawing large crowds make it the perfect choice to host this event. The Winnebago County Fairgrounds offer us some very unique opportunities—where else can you give live food plot demonstrations”, McAloon added.
The vast outdoor layout of the Winnebago County Fairgrounds will allow DeerFest attendees to experience events not possible at other shows. In addition to the live food plot events where attendees will actually see the ground get tore up and planted there will be 3-D archery shoots and competitions, bow testing, ATV, tractor and food plot implement testing among other things.
DeerFest will also feature exhibitor booths, seminars and celebrity guest and a Trophy Room. DeerFest will also debut “Deer Theater”. A complete list of attractions and events can be found at http://www.deerfestwi.com.
