They have been getting some up at the arsenal dam off and on. late evening and fishing right up next to the bank there is alot of minnows up there from the slough all the way up to the hydroplant, look for the white bass to to chase the minnows up to the bank and try fishing the first drop off out from where you see that. if it is a nice day you will probaly have to stay down closer to the slough so you dont interupt the shore fisherman. also the rip rap shoreline at the mouth of the rock river where it dumps into the mississippi is usauly good this time of year when the walleyes are headed up the rock to spawn. good luck

Fishing from a boat. Yeah, I try to give the bank anglers some room. I figure I’m more mobile and there’s lots of river. How about up into the Rock a ways? RI pool isn’t exactly my home pool, and definately not this time of year. New Boston, etc. until recently. The slough has been real hit and miss lately….most recently, mostly miss. We’ve hit that magical mid-40’s mark on the water temp and the ‘eyes are getting spawny. Thanks for the tips, more are always welcome! I’ve basically got a 1-day window to try and get him some fish, then he’s headed home. I’ll spend the week banging around seeing what I can find after work….just really hoping to put together a solid plan or at the very least find someone else’s to copy! Thanks again!

I can’t say what is happening on other pools, but pool 14 has been really slow at best for eyes and saugers. I’ve been out 5 times now, with 5 fish to the boat TOTAL. That’s two guys fishing about 7 hours each time out. We’ve fished pretty much everywhere we could think of on the upper 1/3 of the pool.
Last time out, Saturday, I spoke to several other anglers, including some of the best walleye fishermen in the area, and heard very similar stories.
We had a fantastic fall bite, but the fish are in hiding now. Water temp here was 46-48 degrees, so I’m sure the spawn is on. We fished several staging areas and spawning areas and came up totally empty on Saturday.
I believe it’s time to top off the honey-do list for this guy, so when the post spawn bite takes off I’ll be on it as much as possible.

The mineral sites have been getting hammered!! I dont run flashs at all any more but have been seeing a ton of day time movement, must be the bugs, note the last pic from last week a mile off Shermans point on Mille Lacs, air temp was mid 70s, bugs were thick!!!

Love the pics with the fawns. Here is one I came across trout fishing last weekend. Must have spooked them walking up the stream. Took a few pics and moved on.
