I didnt do a search. If this becomes redundent let me know.
I have never looked for sheds. I seen a really nice buck this last season,By the looks of what I saw a could make book. I cant afford a camera at this time. Just wondering if one place is better than another for looking for sheds. I have the bedding area located and the two paths he used to get to his food source. Would these be good starters? Also do our friends of the forest floor chew them up as fast as the bucks drop them?

    THANKS EVERYONE

Sounds like you got a starting point with the bedding area and the two trails. I would look for where something will come in contact with his antlers like over hanging branches. Also look for where he is crossing over or under fences. Good luck!

Yes this is a good spot. However I would not attempt to look for them until you know he has shed them both as you will probably kick him out of that routine/area if you go in early and he still has them on his head. I would observe/scout that food source from afar until you see him with no antlers and then go in and find them.

You will find some good stuff under the Shed forum I would wait a bit yet unless you have others that can walk this spot ! Great start are bedding areas but you don’t want to kick him out of his home, you may get away with it once but most of the time they will move on . Heavy trails are great also, find food that he is going to Can you glass this area and see if you see him coming and going ? If so that would be your best bet for now Good luck and keep us posted

All are good ideas, unless you have lots of pressure from either other shed hunters or an abundance of rodents. Yes, the rodents will really eat them up if there are many of them around (rabbits/squirrels). If you don’t have much pressure, then leave him be as long as you can.

Best of luck and be sure to bring a camera to take pictures of them on the ground as you found them.

Thanks everyone for your input. Fortunetly I have this all to myself. Although it is a bit North of my house. So glassing is out. I will wait awhile I really want to see this head gear. When I saw him he was pushing 5 does around. He wouldnt listen to anything I did. He knew what he wanted. Sure was impressive. Rob maybe I will call on you we have talked about this spot before in PMs its north of your office. Maybe we could go together if you have the time.
