    Needless to say, this was not one of our better deer seasons this year. In fact, it was probably the worst one we have experienced in over 30 years of hunting. Not giving up though, still have one more weekend of bow hunting left.

    Despite the poor season, there was on bright spot. My daughters boyfriend, Zak was able to shoot his first antlered buck on the second weekend of gun season. He shot it with his 12 gauge at about 60 yards as it was trotting thru an opening…he thought it was a doe. Needless to say I was a little surprised when I found the deer piled up right where he said he shot it.

    I forgot to post his pictures last month. I finally got my camera out of my fanny pack.

    No doubt! I think I was more excited than he was. For his Christmas present, I took the skull and did a European mount for him. Turned out great! He was very appreciative.

    Zak was pretty excited….although I did have to give him a hard time about what a doe looks like compared to a buck! Oh well, that’s what he gets for hunting with me! Congrats again Zak on your first antlered buck.
