I’m going to buy a meat grinder and Gander has some models from the most inexpensive to their higher priced models. I need one that has a casing tube on it at least. Has anyone here had any experience with any of the models from gander and how did they work.

We picked one up 3 or 4 years ago – bought the 7/8 HP model. So far so good. We shopped around a fair amount and the Gander brand seemed to be the best value.

Sure, you can find some out there that are cheaper, but they seemed to be poorly made. One of the things we looked for was how heavy the thing is. A 7/8 HP motor should weigh a lot. Some models out there claim to be similar HP, but weigh as much as a toaster. That’s gotta heat up (and burn out) pretty quick.

My only complaints about the Gander model is how the auger assembly mounts to the motor. If you don’t really, really beef on it, it’ll slip loose as you grind. Once we figured this out it hasn’t been a problem.

Oh, and the feeder tray that sits on top – the tube that is spot-welded on it that slides into the auger – the spot weld let go.

I would purchase this make/model again without hesitation. It came with 3 different sized tubes, 2 cutting blades and a stuffer blade. Again, good value and decent quality.

I got one from farm and fleet that was very similar to gander mountains but a little bit cheaper and it has worked great so far easy to clean and the quality seems to be worth alot more than I paid for
