it is inherent to have that problem because of the prop. if you still have the steering comp tab (cant think of the real name) on the transome loosen with a wrench and turn it one way or the other to help. if you dont have that maybe some one else has a better idea.

If there is a *steering tab thingy* mounted on the lower side of the cavitation plate… it has to be moved.

If your standing behind the boat, the end of the tab closest to you(rear) would have to go to the right. There will be a bolt to loosen somewhere to move it.

no their talking about the same tab
it’s located behind and just above the prop
the bolt is located inside the lower unit there is a axccess hole above it and it will be a allen head bolt
loosten the bolt and move the rear of the tab in the direction that you want the steering to be easer (ie)easer right turn, move rear of tab to the right ect.ect.
that will take care of most of your troubles
    good luck

But when haullin it turns left easy but right is fery hard.

Being a new boat are you trimming it up correctly. I am guessing your not trimming it up correctly or enough. As speed comes up and you start to trim the torque from the engine should go away so it feels nuteral. Even a tiller trimmed properly should be no torque on the tiller. My tiller I allways had my tab run straight and took the torque out with my trim. When putting the hammer down to get on plain you will feel torque, as soon as she start to plaining start hitting the trim and the steering should lighten right up.

its called the “trim tab” and it enables you to adjust the pull of your motor

As Tom P said, I think you need to trim the boat as you speed up, or its going to be a bear to turn. I have an optimax 150 without hydraulic steering or a trim tab, and it turns both directions just fine, when trimmed properly. On a different angle, I thought hydraulic steering would over power an untrimmed boat? Maybe the boost on the steering system isn’t working as it should?

Hi guy’s it’s a new boat yes (10th one). I am absolutly trimming it up properly and it still turns very hard to the right. I was suspecting it has something to do with the angle of the trim tab on the cavitation plate but didn’t know wich way to try an adjustment. I’m going to give it a try. Thanks

I would really look into mechanical problem with hydraulic steering as long as your trimming correctly. I don`t beleive moving the trim tab on your cavitaion plate will help. My Opti is perfectly straight and I don`t have any pull from engine torque. I would have your dealer check it out may have air in the system or just not setup properly.

You may need to raise the motor one hole.

I did talk with my dealer today and he said there is definatly something wrong and I’m going to take it and they will repair. He said with the hydraulic steering it should be the same boath directions.

If you participated in the 2009 WI gun deer hunt, please take a few moments to complete this survey.

On December 17, 2009, the Senate Natural Resources Committee and Assembly Fish and Wildlife
Committee will hold a joint public hearing on the traditional, 9-day 2009 gun deer season, and a
rule relating to deer management unit population goals. Your input is valued and appreciated.
