I think we may have started a new tradition today.I was lucky enough to be invited on a few small drives with muzzleloader today. We woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow and cool temps plus a stout northwest wind .The first drive came up empty plenty of sign just no deer. Drive number 2 another blank. Then the decision to go to the “spot” was made and a good decision it was. We no more than got to our stands and her comes a doe.She stops and looks at the bottom stander he shoots and misses ( later I hear that if you pull the trigger and can say c@#$ s@#$*$% before the gun actually goes off you will miss everytime ) Bad for him good for me as she is trotting up to see me.She comes up out of the ditch at a whopping 30 yards I stop her and shoot she hauls up the hill (maybe the laughing affected my shooting )We hear a shot on the other end heres comes doe number 2 as im reloading and she is staring at me at 50 yards Finally I get reloaded She is unsure where to go stops breiefly its a bit brushy but I send one anyhow whiffed again she runs back down to the bottom stander we hear another shot on the opposite end then I hear a kapop then “you dirty f!@#$%” she still stands there then another kapop followed by a “kiss my “.She heads back the other way and we hear one more shot on the opposite end come to find out one guy hit a nice buck We track for a bit with very little sign (thank god for the snow) we head to town for lunch then do one more drive that had one little buck sited.OK time to go in after the wounded buck. The six of us surround where he went and eventually catch up with him to finish the job Snapped a few pics and called it a day
Oh the adventures of muzzle loading
Theres alot of pressure to reload with a deer watching you
I asked to be penciled in for next year already
*EDIT*
I gambled and lost I went out without shooting my muzzleloader first come to find out I was 10 inches to the left which would have made me shoot in front of both deer
Quick reminder sight in your guns EVERYTIME before you hit the woods i know i will from now on no excuses
