• The muzzleloader (long gun or handgun) used cannot be loaded at the breech (muzzleloading revolvers are not legal for taking big game); • The smooth-bore muzzleloader used is at least .45 caliber and • The rifled muzzleloader used is at least .40 caliber;
It looks like it is as long as it is not a revolver.
…better to lucky than good I guess, the neighbors combine chased 6 slick heads within 20 yards. good old .45 cal blackpowder. 85 grains kicks like a mule but pretty darn accurate to 25 yards. I dropped this one, well actually it fell back on it’s hinds, and sort of flopped over. what a rush!! the antlers are avoiding me this year, but hey tag soup is no good…so fresh tenderloins it is.
thanks guys, one of my most memorable kills… I’m taking the hide over to Uber in Owatonna and have it tanned. just got her skinned and all butchered, pretty darn impressed with the damage the ol pistol did (hump/spine shot with a few vertabrae mising) it did ruin some tenderloin, and there was a lot of pooled blood…nothing but props for the .45 cal powerbelts & triple 7
