Here are a few deer that have been shot this past week during the Nebraska rifle season.

Killed Wednesday morning (11-18-09) at 720am.
    55 yard shot.

The story is still a little sketchy at this time but this is what I have gotten so far. For sure this thing is a buck of a life time. I put this in it’s own thread not to clutter up the 2009-2010 thread.

It was shot by a guy from Texas on Sat. Nov.14. Location was on “private land, south”. CO Levi Krause was called and checked it Saturday, so apparently it was shot “legally”. 38 Scorable points, some were broken off, so it would have been more.

Here is the link to this story. Deer hunters have been shooting some really nice deer this year here in Nebraska

Wow, talk about a lot of bone.

Gut, that’s how real cowboys do it. All the old cowboys we ran into in Wy a few years back did the same thing. I think it’s to show of the fancy tops.

Here’s a couple more pics of the 38 pointer. It measured 2 inches over the state record but will need to dry for 60 days before it’s offically measured.

I’m also waiting for pics from my buddy Jake. A good friend of his shot a 203 inch with his bow the week before our rifle season. Nebraska sure is crankin out some bruisers this year.

I tell you what, I have hunted Nebraska twice and was very impressed! We saw some great deer even though conditions were terrible, highs were approaching 85 during rifle season, and we still saw good deer. I ended up with a real good 8pt. one year and some great encounters the other year.

There was ample land to hunt, hardly any people and the ranchers were very nice. I would love to go back on a bow hunt for both muleys and whitetails!
