When have you shot the biggest bucks in gun season

    Do most people get the big boys opening morning, or does it stretch across the week?

    Just curious as I have rarely shot a buck on opening morning, and I don’t know if I have ever shot a bigger buck on opening morning. My last bigger buck came on Thanksgiving morning, same with my dad, the one before that was on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I also don’t really remember ever shooting a good or even decent one in the the afternoon during gun season aside from a drive maybe. Just curious what other’s experiences have been.

    Where I hunt, the 2nd weekend is almost useless for bucks. No one to move them around and they just find somewhere safe to sit and don’t move.

    For me it’s opening weekend, I’ve shot the bigger deer both on opening day and 2nd day, but never there after.

    2 of my 3 biggest bucks have come around that noontime range on opening day……..sit longer than the lunchtime hikers and give yourself a shot

    I’ve never got over a 130″, so that’s why I put “bigger” and not “BIG”.

    Surprised at the results so far in that afternoons during the week seem popular, but opening day afternoons not so much.

    220# 8-pt. at 10:30am this year, 230# 8-pt. at 1:00pm two yrs. ago. Both were mid-130″ deer.
