Well ill be the first to admitt having shot my buck early this year I havent hunted very hard Decided to hunt tonite and boy am I glad I did.About 315 I got my first vistor a corkscrew spiker it was early and nice to at least see a deer. After a bit another deer came out the devil buck made his way past me and sniffed a scrape. Then I heard a grunt from up in my food plot I answered and here he comes nice long main beams about 16 inches wide and every tine broke off he works the scrape pretty good grunting the whole time. Then the jurassic park part of the evening starts with grunts followed by the ticking noise only a dominant buck makes. I can hear them behind me in the creek bottom but cant see them .By now darkness is setting in hard and the sounds all around me are (well to be honest) a little spooky The broke rack buck comes back and snort wheezes from about 15 yards then the buck in the creek bottom does a buck roar I sat a good 30 minutes after dark just listening to them then when I felt a small window to get out I hit the ground running I have to say it was the wildest night I can ever remember on stand .Ive never heard deer so vocal. It was awesome

Heres a pic of the devil buck

It is strange to me how little vocalization I hear most nights and then there are nights like yours, was the roar drug out or was it quick? Was there any grunts up to or following it? Nights like those are what I hunt for!
