After years of passing on dozens of 2.5 and 3.5 year old bucks that just were big enough my luck changed! The evening of nov. 11th we headed to a stand I have between a bedding and feeding area, kinda a staging point before they head out at night. In the stand by 1 we began the heavy rattling for 3 to 5 minutes every hour. Besides a small spike that would run in every time we hit the horns it was kinda slow for that set.Shortly before sundown the smaller buck worked to the feild where he was joined by a few does. As the light was fading I thought to my self another gun season is slipping away rapidly Thats when I saw him 20 yards and closing at about 15 he was in my lane, I stopped him and dropped the hammer of my .45 cal muzzleloader sending a Barnes Expander through the top of his shoulder blade and out the oppisite arm pit. The buck piled up with in 40 yards. The next few minutes were a roller coaster as we relized I had just shot a buck in the upper 160’s but the camera had not turned on yet At any rate he is big and old Rough green score is 169.5 with over 41 inches of mass alone! I would love to post pics but they wont load normaly have no problems any help would be great.
