I haven’t been to pool 4 in 5 months. Your daughter DOES know more than I do right now.

    But point taken.

Lenny’s a good guy. Just don’t get caught trying to lift his electronics of his boat.

I found out that the cops don’t like it if you fire off a shotgun in Bay City.

I just read a post from Lenny about a guy he caught trying to steal his locator off his boat last year. Lenny’s a nice guy and all but I would imagine that guy found his head and face all lumpy and turning funny colors after that interaction.

Myself, I would like to hear…. “the rest of the story.”

There were actually two guys. I had the boat parked next to the garage and happened to look out my window and saw them in the boat. I grabbed the shotgun and ran outside and fired a couple rounds into the air. I never did catch either of them. It is funny how fast a person runs when he hears gunshots.
They had my x-20 disconnect by the time I got out there. Another few minutes and it would have been gone.
When the cops got there they were more interested in me firing the gun then with the guys trying to steal my poop. I never did get into any trouble but they read the riot act to me.

    Cops.

They’d be the first guy to flower you up if they caught you stealing any of their poop in the dead of night.

Don’t you wish you had said “you know, you’re right. the next time, no warning shots. the next time I’ll run up and yell ‘what the hell are you doing’ and hope one of them tries to assault me. And then there won’t be time for warning shots in the air.”

But back to your original post… I HIGHLY doubt you’ve been on the hit list since then.

You should of told the cops:
“Of course I shot in the air! I didn’t want to hurt my boat in case some of the pellets missed the thieves!”

It’s obvious I spend too much time on IDA, but with the job situation, not much else to do during the day right now.

I’ve looked around and can very honestly say I don’t see another site like this. In the past WalleyeCentral was a great site, but for the last 4-5 years it’s went so far downhill. I still think they have one of the best boat classifieds out there though. Simply due to volume. Now Walleye First is giving them a run for their money in that area. Never been on their forums so I can’t speak to those.

As for FM, they have so much advertising/fluff it’s really made it hard to navigate. I haven’t been on their site in over a year now. I know how they choose their staff members is interesting. If a staffer has a friend, he submits him for membership. You are then allowed access to all the discounts and programs they offer. I may have to apply since Holst won’t give me a snowsuit.

And what the heck would you do with a snosuit since you don’t fish anymore?

I suppose we could get you a one piece suit and a belt in the hopes that it would keep the wife away from that baby maker of yours…

I’m actually so warm blooded I don’t think this suit would be for me. However the chastity belt is a welcome tool at my house.

I have been out a few times and seeing bucks chase does. One was a beauty, he was grunting and chasing. I started to grunt thats when i noticed two does just below my stand looking up. Is it possible he seen these does looking up. My tree was between me and him. when i grunted again he bolted like is butt was on fire.???
Then on Sunday i had some golden estrus out and trails end 307 on wicks. I had the wind perfect 1 buck fed on acorns never lifted his head, another just before dark came quartering in but not on the scent trail, I used the Primos doe bleet can he didnt even flinch. Any thoughts??? on what I did wrong or could have changed. I get the two doe scenerio earlier, but i thought for sure he would come in. That brute was defiantly the bully of the woods.

One of my all time favorites this time of the year with aggressive bucks is the Snort Wheeze call, do it once they stop walking trying to pick the direction it came from, do it again and watch them come stalking in for a fight I love this call this time of the year and I normally do it with by mouth, but you call buy the actual call to help make it easier to do.

    Good Luck!

When it comes to bucks, i tend to not think that they will respond the same. Each has learned vicariously and will respond differently to calls. In your case too, that buck that was feeding on acorns could have experienced trauma before from responding to a call. He may have had his butt kicked before and may never respond to calling in the future. As Jeff put it, snort wheezing can do the trick. Bucks don’t always snort wheeze unless they are extremely agitated to getting a doe to do what he wants or to show domination towards another buck. Whatever the cause may be, it can be an important gesture that may tick him off and he will come to you. Also, keep in mind that if a deer doesn’t respond to calls it could be that he is not the dominant buck in the area. These bucks know who is the boss and who gets the does. Its a game basically and you may have to try everything you can to get them to close the distance

I have different stories from a lot of people. I’m hooked on the tru talker grunt call. I’d say it works about 30-50% of the time for me. I had a big 10pt walk out about 60 yards from me last week and I tried everything to get him to come in. I tried grunting a couple times and he was obviously not interested. I tried a snort wheeze and that did not work either. It was actually the first time I heard a deer do this. He did it twice and kept looking in the direction he had just walked out from. I’m assuming another bigger deer was running him off. About an hour later it worked out pretty good for me on a different buck. I had a big deer walk out about 80 yards in front of me in a bean field obviously looking for a hot doe. I’m pretty sure I heard him fighting with another buck about 20 minutes earlier behind me. I kept watching to see which way he was going before I called to make sure it was not going to come my way away. When he stepped foot in the tree line across from me I hit him once with a medium grunt. He looked straight at me for a second and then started running right at me. I was shocked that it actually worked and had to get ready for the shot in a hurry. I think they have an amazing sense of where the grunt directly came from as he would have walked right underneath my stand. He fortunetly stopped broadside at 30 yards and I dropped him with the rage two blade right in his tracks.
I thinking any calling that you do, whether it be grunting, rattling, fawn bleets, snort wheeze that its most effective in the mornings. I could be totally wrong, but thats the concensus that I’ve heard. I can’t wait to try some of this on video next year.

can you find out how to do a snort wheeze online somewhere without buying a call?
