Hi all. This buck was shot this last week just outside of Cannon Falls. Its a buck some friends have been after for a couple years and have sheds from. Unfortunately it was not shot by them. Doing some quick research I believe this buck is the biggest 8pt ever shot bow or gun. Gross score of 192″ and net of 189″.

Check out the measurements of this freak!
    32″ in beams!
    27″ inside spread!
6″ bases carried all the way out!

The guy in the picture is not the person who shot it, its my uncle who went to look at it yesterday. Sorry for the style of pics, if I get some from the hunter out in the field I will post as well. Can you believe this giant!! Congrats to the Cannon Falls hunter who was fortunate to harvest a truley once in a lifetime buck!!

I would also like to say that QDM does work! Because guys/gals in this area are letting the small ones walk is exactly why this guy got a chance at this beast!

it’s the same buck on the floor. look at the meat under the bases on the skull and on the right cheek. the pic was just perfect enough to cover the G2 w/ the G3.

That is an amazing 8 pt!!!

    Also,

The world record stands at 185 7/8” and was shot by Lonnie Copeland from Arkansas (i believe) in 1992. After the mandatory 60 drying period the possibility of this buck setting the new mark will put MN on the map as the biggest 8 pt buck ever!!

That is absolutely insane! What an 8pt. If I were the guy who harvested that deer I would have the antlers in my posession until the taxidermist is ready to mount them on the form.

That is a BEAST! I’m with you G…looks like a 3×4! Where is the curl on the G3 on the right side? Also, look at the brows! Awesome animal anyway!

Very weird Gobbler, I see the meat thing, but the 1st 2 pics, the right G3 looks like it has more of a hook on top ??? Even the mains on 1 & 2 curl more ??? If it is 2 different deer…. WOW !!!

That is a GIANT. How old was this PIG? The guy that shot that thing must have balls of steel. I’d be shaking so much probably couldn’t even pull the bow back.

I hear ya, me neither. I see what you guys are saying but its the same deer, the camera angle is disguising a bit of the actual shape.

Just a side note to this story, the guy that has the sheds of this deer and many trail cam pics shot a different giant 8 pt. the following day as this one was shot. This buck was shot last Saturday and on Sunday morning in the same block of woods but different property the guy chasing this one shot a 162″ eight point! Can you believe two 8 pts. of that caliber in the same block of woods! WOW!

i hunt approximately 1/2 – 1 mile from where this was taken, and we found out today that the deer is now in possession of the DNR.

rumor is (nothing verified yet) that he had already arrowed a buck this season and tagged/registered it. this deer he shot, and tagged with a friends tag. when the dnr started to investigate, they found 4 or 5 more deer this week/weekend at his home that were not registered or registered correctly.

but it is definitely confirmed that the wardens took this buck from the taxidermist and the shooter is under investigation. i have no idea if he was arrested or anything.

a friend of mine that also hunts next to the area, and has trail cam pics of the deer from this year on his property, uses the same taxidermist, and stopped by there to see the deer, and that is when he was informed by the taxidermist that it was confiscated.

if he truly did poach this deer, i hope he is put away for a long long time. and i will be glad he is no longer hunting the valley.

also, this was told second hand to me, but supposedly he was drawn on a 160+ 10 pointer, when this 8 pointer ran off the 10.

oh no, this is very unfortunate! Why do people have to be so greedy!?
I hope they max out the penalty on the guy if he is convicted!
