Exterior walls for hunting box blind?

I’m looking to finish my box blind project. I have the framework (untreated 2×4’s for the box on top of my treated base) essentially done, but I don’t want to fully put it out in the elements until I get the outside wall material on hand.

We have some tin material to use for the roof, but we are looking for something to use for the sides. Treated plywood would be great, but I’m wondering if there is anything else that would keep the insides dry and be cheaper to use. I’m certainly not opposed to oddball or unconventional exterior siding if you guys have any ideas…

I have a few 4×8 plastic-like sign/advertising boards that might do the job, but I don’t have enough to do the whole thing. Know where I might find more??? Any other ideas?? I’ll need about 7 4×8 sheets altogether… 5 more if I use those signs that I have…

    Thanks!

we were wondering the same thing on a new stand we built a month ago, and decided it was best to put up the treated walls as the other options weren’t that much better compared to what the savings would have been,

I thought about getting regular wood and painting or staining it but was lazy…

It’s probably too late…but we have used roofing rubber on the outside of all our stands. It works great and holds up for years.

Hmm… cool idea. Just a paint on type of application? We used OSB as the walls, but haven’t yet painted or primed it… Probably would be a good idea to get something on there if possible. (for this blind anyway — more blinds to come next year). Think that rubber roof stuff would stick to OSB? Maybe some primer would help?

I wonder if something like truckbedliners would work?

Cool suggestions, helps me to think about non-traditional options.

    Thanks!

I talked to a couple of siding buddies and got “extra” vinyl siding they had left over from jobs.

What did you use for windows?

Right now we have a few half a$$’d plexiglass windows framed up and on hinges. Not the prettiest girls at the dance, but they’ll work. The rest of it is sort of boarded over right now until we have more time to get some real plexiglass (or whatever) windows in.

The next one we build, we’ll get the windows first… some sliding glass ones or something, and build the walls specifically to fit the windows. We made this years in a big hurry to get it up before deer season. It’ll work just fine, just not quite fully finished….
