Those are my temporary Walleye slippers. I caught so many eyes the other day on the Croix that I ended up standing on them and a couple froze to my feet! They fell off after I got home and thawed out. They sure made it a hassle to drive home!

Thank you, sweetie. By the way, I just discovered your walleye slippers in the back hall closet and decided they were no longer edible! Can you say hazardous waste?

Anybody ever have any luck stalking the corn? Doesn’t seem like much reason to leave the corn for the deer huh? Could hurt a lot of guys chances? I’m kind of exited this year, the corn is still up on the parcel I hunt. Usually if we have corn I see a lot of deer passing through the woods heading into it. If it’s a slow opener I might sneak around with the .44mag in hand Monday. Who knows I just might see something?

This will also be the first year for my 12 YO son to be in the stand with me for his first real deer hunt. He’s still got the blood-lust going from his grouse. So far he’s got tons of questions ranging from if we see a squirrel can he shoot it to how many deer can he shoot to what time does he have to get up!

    Ferny.

Ferny, With the right wind and enough to help cover up your noise of walking through. I took my best bow buck in a cornfeild while walking to my stand a few years back. With a gun I could see a safety factor if you get turned around and are not sure what’s beyond. I was just talking to a friend about the standing cron in our area. It’s a good thing because in my area the guy who shoots the MOST deer is the best hunter around(in his eyes of course)
